“We need four hugs a day for survival. We need 8 hugs a day for maintenance. We need 12 hugs a day for growth.”Why You Should Get (and Give) More Hugs
Personally, I feel pathetic having to ask for hugs. I truly need human contact, even though, (hold on to your seats) I’m not fond of most humans. In my defense, humans are scary and come with all kinds of drama, but I will stay on topic here. I tend to give more contact than I receive, only because it seems that is the only way I will be able to adequately fulfill my need to be touched. It’s true, my love language is touch and I truly love being touched by my favorite humans only.
Try as I might, I cannot feel good without human contact. I do not know how people go through life without it. I tend to whither and feel insignificant. I feel lost and out of control. Even half hugs or just shoulder hugs, the ones where you stick your rear out just so your bodies don’t touch are not good enough. Full, all in hugs are good. They mean something. Half, one armed hugs are disingenuous and feel as if the person giving it is uncomfortable. If you’re not comfortable giving a hug.. just say NO.
All that to say, I just feel loved when I get hugs. And when I feel loved, I thrive. Plain and simple. I’m a happier person, my body feels better, I have more energy and focus.
“Hugging, it seems, is universally comforting. It makes us feel good. And it turns out hugging is proven to make us healthier and happier”. source: Why You Should Get (and Give) More Hugs
There’s really nothing that can replace hugs. If there was, I would have found it by now.
Here’s a thought, if everyone received AT LEAST 4 hugs a day, we would all be better off mentally and just a little physically.
All this to say, give more (consensual) hugs!!

ps.. if you can’t give hugs.. at least give chocolate.
